I'm sad...

Mood: Sadness

I had to let one of my best friends go. Today, on the 8th of June 2009, my dear hamster, Tobi, died.

He got sick three days ago, his stomach was swollen and he stopped eating and drinking just because he was too weak to move.
Me and my Mom went to the vet today. He could only give us bad news. "Cancer" was the verdict. The vet could feel a huge lump inside of his belly and said he could remove it but that the surgery is very dangerous for such a small creature.

I decided to let the vet give him a lethal injection. After all, I no longer wanted to see him suffer.

I was able to say goodbye to him, hug him and nuzzle him one last time before I left.

Tobi lived a happy life from the 4th of November 2007 till today...

I've never had to do something like that so I can't really say I know how you feel but... I hope you feel better soon

and at least now you know he's not suffering

Thank you. It was one of the hardest decisions I ever made. But it's for the better...

I'm sure I'll meet him in the afterlife one day.

he's in hamster heaven now squeeking with other hamsters maybe mine and yours will meet and share memories they had with their masters

hehe, that definitely sounds like Tobi, always showing off.

I remember him dangling at the top of his cage... and then falling down... and acting as if nothing had happened.

I remember him turning his food bowl upside down when all the food was still in it.

I remember him climbing on top of his bottle of water... and then being stuck there.

I'll definitely remember his first walk in my backyard, enjoying the sun and the scent of grass.

I'll remember him giving me licks on my nose... which was way too adorable.

I'm glad you say that Seppy, especially because some people might not understand why I would love a hamster so much.

Even though it's not a dog or a cat... Tobi was able to give me love on his own little way. He DID love me, that was proven when I'm took him outside for a stroll in the backyard. He didn't even try running away, he would stay with me, sitting on my feet even and climbing on top of me when I lied down in the grass.
